Passionfruit caipirinha

I don't really like mint so when I saw the restaurant around the corner had a passionfruit caipirinha on the menu I had to try.

Passionfruit is available here the entire year. The juice is very sweet but the seeds are a bit bitter. Don't chew on them!


Cachaca is Brazilian rum and just like any hard licor you have loads of options. I always say if you drink it neat go for the best quality, when you use it for cocktails you can go for the cheaper option.

Monin Passion

In a normal caipirinha they use quite some sugar. Here we use monin syrup, you have them in many flavours but we're obviously using passionfruit.

  • 40 ml cachaca
  • 2 tablespoon monin passion
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 passionfruit
  • ice cubes


  • Cut the lime in wedges and mash in the glass so all the juices are in the glass. Add icecubes until the glass is full.
  • Add the cachaca end passion syrup. Scoop out the passionfruit and add to the glass. Stir and serve immediately.
